To make your move official with the government, you need to file official paperwork for all your legal documents such as your license and voter registration. Since state guidelines vary, you’ll have to find out what important documents, licenses, or records need to be updated. For example, some states mandate that drivers update their licenses within 30 days of moving. You will need to update your car registration, insurance policies, and children’s school records, if applicable. Additionally, don’t forget to inform your banking institutions of any address changes.
