6 UNLIKELY THINGS YOU COULD USE AS PACKING SUPPLIES

Moving day can be one of the most exciting yet stressful days of your life. On average, an individual in the United States moves approximately 11 times in his/her life. That’s 11 times for buying bubble wrap, boxes, and styrofoam, which can get a bit pricey. This can be a substantial expense over time so instead of buying more packing supplies, here are 7 unlikely things you could use as packing supplies from your friends at TI Storage.

Curtains

Need to wrap up a few small, fragile items? Try wrapping them up in your curtains. It will keep everything in place from your expensive china to your grandmother’s picture frames.

Pillows

Movers aren’t always the most graceful when moving your boxes, so be sure to secure all glass items with a pillow or perhaps a blanket that can serve as a soft cushion and prevent damage.

Newspaper

Running out of styrofoam? Try using some shredded or balled up newspapers. It works just as well as styrofoam or bubble wrap and it’s great for recycling.

Clothing

Old clothing is a great substitute for bubble wrap. Put those raggedy jeans that no longer fit to good use before tossing them.

Junk Mail or Paper

Need to hold something in place? Junk mail, paper, or even old magazines can be used to fill in empty sections in a box, which keep your items in one place and prevents shifting.

Resealable Plastic Bags

Resealable plastic bags are great for space conservation. Those huge boxes of clothing can be significantly reduced.  Simply place a few clothing items into a large resealable plastic bag, and push all possible air out. Press down as much as you can and seal the bag before you release the pressure.
