New York City, also known as The Big Apple, is no small city as its nickname suggests. The hustle and bustle is palpable, which is just part of its charm. The city consists of five large boroughs that make it feel like a state of its own. It contains Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. Each of these boroughs has its own culture, culminating to make the city what it is today. The city can be broken down in the following ways.

Population

Most people know that New York City is a pretty large city. The city has a population of nearly 9 million residents, which is twice as much as Los Angeles. It is easy to see why so many people in NYC have a hard time finding apartments, and why a quality self-storage space is vital to New Yorkers.

Area

The city’s land area is not that vast. Again, this is one reason why space is so precious in NYC. The land’s area is only 304.6 square miles, compared to the 503 square miles Los Angeles offers for their 4 million residents.

Buildings

One of the major aspects of New York City is its impressive buildings. New York City has some of the most beautifully designed buildings in the United States. Many of these buildings are iconic, like the One World Trade Center, standing at a towering 1776 feet high. History buffs out there would probably notice that the height of the building is also the year America got its independence.

Theaters

Another thing that makes New York City stand out is its vast number of Broadway theaters. There are about 40 professional theaters in the city, but plenty more that fall just short of the professional status. New York City dwellers love a good show, so even the smaller theaters attract a pretty decent audience. There is plenty to discover in this city as long as you take the time to truly explore the area.
